Approximately 6.5 years ago, Dane Ferguson started at Absolute Exhibits in an Operations role.  He was soon promoted to Vice President in 2013. Dane is charged with ensuring we all adhere to a larger vision for the company, getting involved in all aspects from payroll to logistics to HR. In our first employee spotlight, we’d like to introduce the side of Dane that you may not know beyond his bio online:

Dane the Athlete:

Interviewer: What would you say is your biggest achievement to date, whether personally or professionally?

Dane: Personally, I am proud to have graduated college in 4 years at UC Berkeley while playing baseball. More recently, 2 summers ago, I earned a graduate degree in Business Administration from Brandman University. That was an extra 20 hours of work per week on average, which made me proud to complete.

Interviewer: Are there any hobbies, special interests, or passions that you enjoy in your free time?

Dane: I am definitely a sports junkie and I grew up playing any sport imaginable. With 3 older brothers, we would all play basketball, football, or baseball together, depending on the season. Today I enjoy snowboarding, wake boarding, and a variety of outdoorsy activities. The competition aspect might be the most appealing part of sports, but I enjoy them all.

Tying it All Together:

Interviewer: So you’ve mentioned all these sports that you played in college- are those part of your special talents?

Dane: I wouldn’t say special talents but I think that being an athlete for so long and understanding the discipline has definitely helped me in the workplace.  Our team oriented approach towards customer success relates back to the roots of athletics. This is because many members have to do their part to ensure success. Therefore, athletics has helped me a lot in the workplace to understand how we work together.

Given his history with athletics, it’s no surprise Dane is very team oriented in his approach.  This includes both the success of our customers and of Absolute Exhibits. We are lucky to have him as a part of our team!
